There are many things girls will do in order to be more conventionally attractive according to society’s norms. False eyelashes, “spanx” underwear, hair extensions and fake nails are all average fare in the Irish landscape. However, Claire’s accessories are selling a new product which promises something unusual- a thicker ponytail.
While I wouldn’t have thought a thicker ponytail would be enviable by many girls, I did buy it out of curiosity. While it looks slightly ridiculous in the harsh light of day, when applied to your hairstyle it makes a sizeable difference. I must say, it’s nice to have a thick ponytail, the kind of thickness unmatched since you were a child, before you discovered layers and hair straighteners and hair damaging highlights.
Basically, you place the white coil piece on the crown of your head, in the middle, and scoop all your hair up and around it. You then secure the piece with the thick hair bands provided.
Again, while this would not have been something that previously kept me up at night, it has opened up a new vault of unexplored hairstyles for me. As a girl who would never have worn her hair up on a night out I am enjoying playing with this and with different hairstyles now that I have the hair to fill them.
It’s a great piece, it’s affordable and it’s fun to experiment with, especially for girls with thin hair. I wouldn’t save it if my house was on fire but it has definitely paid for itself already.
